Rob Plier is the owner of Robert Alexander's Music Lessons. Before starting this business, Rob worked in the same location for Jack Ryan Music for 2 years and has continued to provide the same excellent standard of musical instruction.

Rob has been playing guitar since 2001. As a a youth, Rob formed a garage band with his neighbors and continued playing and performing with various live bands throughout his high school years.

Rob went on to study Classical guitar at Northern Virginia Community College and received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Music degrees from Radford University, where he received training in guitar pedagogy and performance, music theory, sight singing and sight reading, music history, composition, music production, keyboard skills and more.

As a graduate teaching assistant at Radford, Rob took on the role of an assistant professor, and his duties included preparing music education majors to teach guitar via the Virginia public school curriculum.

Furthermore, Rob has been a featured soloist performer at the Radford University international guitar festival. He also founded "Reston Nature Fest" a local Northern Virginia Music festival that was held annually for three years.

Rob has been a music teacher since 2008 and it has been his dream ever since his teenage years to one day own, operate and teach within a private teaching studio, so this project is truly the culmination of a long time dream.

Rob's goals are to help guide his students to become the best possible musicians they can be. Some of his former students have gone on to perform in professional bands, others have successfully completed auditions into 4 year music conservatories, some just love to play as a hobby. Whatever your musical goals are, Rob is here to help you achieve them!

covid19 update

Midlothian Music is of course taking appropriate precautionary steps as outlined by the CDC. While we do offer in-person lessons, we are required to physically distance ourselves from our students, wear approved masks, require our students to wear masks, and sanitize the studio and all surfaces prior to a student entering the premises.

However, for our students who are at-risk, live with others who are at-risk, or are erring more so on the side of caution, we do offer virtual lessons, and the same procedures and prices apply for those. Please call or email us for more information if you have any questions or concerns!
